Things to do in Pickering 

Pickering is a small market town with less than 7,000 residents, boasting a selection of family run shops offering a friendly personal service. There's a Bank and a Building Society (with cash machines), a Post Office and an impressive Public Library with internet access. There's a daily covered Flea Market and a street market on Mondays. North Yorkshire Moors Railway 

One of the longest and most popular heritage railways in the UK taking you on a 18 mile ride through breath-taking scenery between Pickering and Whitby. 

Pickering Castle 

Originally a wooden structure built by William the Conqueror, it was later replaced by a stone version. Also once a royal hunting lodge and a royal holiday retreat. 

Beck Isle Museum 

With 27 rooms packed full of exhibits covering many aspects of local, social and family history & militaria the museum is a real gem! 

The Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul 

Dating back to Norman times the Church houses “the most complete collection of medieval wall paintings in England” and attract thousands of visitors per year, many from overseas.

Dalby Forest 

Known as the Great Yorkshire Forest, Dalby is situated on the southern slopes of the North York Moors and offers over 8,000 acres of woodland to explore and enjoy. 

North York Moors National Park 

One of the UK's most beautiful national parks famed for its heather-clad moorland. Brilliant walking and cycling country! 

Yorkshire Wolds 

With glorious, gently undulating hills, perfect for picnics, and picture postcard villages with landscaped gardens and ponds aplenty, the Yorkshire Wolds are the hidden gem not to be missed. 

Whitby 

One of a number of Yorkshire Coast towns just 30 minutes away, with its ruined Gothic Abbey famous for Bram Stoker’s inspiration for “Dracula"!
