Below are just a selection of reviews received from visitors to Westgate Carr Farm
From our first time of meeting Karen and David and family 3 years ago, we have never looked back, we’ve always felt welcome and nothing is too much, if we’ve had a problem they have always gone out of there way to help us.
The site is first class and now with the new shower block it’s perfect for all our families needs.
Lovely location and now that they have a holiday cottage finished if friends wish to come and join us they can always book and stay there.
They have a lovely dog walk down by a stream.
Had a fantastic 2 weeks here at Westgate, it has become our regular site and love visiting.
We cant speak more highly of Karen and Dave the site owners along with the Children or not so young children now Josh and Hannah.
They are all there on hand whenever needed and help make the stay even more enjoyable.
If your looking for a quiet friendly stay with easy access to local North yorkshire villages this is the one.
If we could give it higher than 10/10 we would do but since we cant then its 10’s across the board.
Our only regret is that we wont be back now until next year now booho
Once in a while you meet some really special people, this happened to us when my wife and I booked 2 nights at Westgate Carr farm.We have just returned to camping after many years absence, so we thought we would book a couple of nights somewhere not too far away and a small family site not one of the big sites.
This turned out to be one of my better decisions.
When we arrived we were met by Karen one of the owners, she was very friendly and welcoming, we were shown where our pitch was so we parked up the camper and started to put up the awning, now I am not the healthiest of people and was puffing a little then to my surprise Karen asked her son Josh to help us with the awning which he did very quickly, we were very grateful, thank you Josh.
Nothing is too much trouble for Karen David and Josh plus Josh’s sister who’s name I don’t know.
The site is spotlessly clean the toilets and showers are new and super clean.
The farm itself has some wonderful animals like Alpaca Donkeys Peacocks chickens fresh eggs and some geese etc.
There are some lovely walks and plenty of piece and quiet.
Stayed 2 nights and on the second night at teatime a lady drove into the site with homemade pie and mash mushy peas gravy and then a pudding for afters, this food was all homemade and was delicious.
Thank you Karen Dave Josh and your sister for making our comeback to camping so special, you have a beautiful farm and camp site and you certainly know how to run it with all of your hard work and dedication. You made us both feel special and we can’t wait for our 7 night return in May that we Booked on leaving.
See you all soon, Colin &. Pat
Stayed at this site on many occasions over the last 4 years, the last visit being 2nd-5th September 2016.
The site has large level pitches with electric hook up new shower block and dish washing area.
The owners are very friendly and always willing to help you.
The site is a pleasant walk down a country lane from Pickering about 25 mins.
The site is very quite with only occasional farm traffic going past, on the farm there are Alpaca’s, Donkey`s, Peacocks, Horses, and Chickens fresh eggs available.
We love this site and our grand daughter loves to come and stay when possible
Well what an absolutely lovely site and a lovely family, (I should really give a bad review so I can keep the site all to myself) joking a side, it was perfect, a farm site with farm animals, we even went home with a cockerel & two hens!
The toilet block was basic but spotless, it seemed to us as soon as someone used it they were in there cleaning it!
Stunning views & no light pollution and off the beaten track, home from home for us! the sites situated just outside the town of Pickering.
We’ve even arranged to have our caravan stored there next year, because we live 200 miles away the owners have said he’ll get the caravan out of storage & site it for us, very helpful, as said in other reviews the site is under going improvements so it will be interesting to watch it progress. We had a fab week here and will definitely be returning as the whole family agreed that this is going to be one of our favourite sites in the area.
Having only 15 pitches means that its not overcrowded and is peaceful – perfect for us.
The owners are friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us when we had a ‘mishap’ with our awning – our thanks go out to them.
Our children loved the fact that they could interact with the animals and although there was no playground on site, the amount of space available for them to make their own entertainment is a luxury and enabled them to make friends easily.
As mentioned in previous reviews the site is being revamped and facilities are soon to be put in, I’m sure that we will then have to book well in advance for a pitch.
The site is within walking distance to Pickering but well away from main roads – perfect to let the kids have a bit more independence
Just back from a 4 night break with a caravan.
Fortunately we have our own facilities for wc and showers. The site is in the developing stage so, no shower block. This did not stop campers as the site had an equal amount of vans and tents.
Very friendly owners who are very experienced in the joys of caravans and motor homes.
Generous pitches and beautiful surroundings. This site will only get better and better. Down side being will become very very popular and rightly so.
We had a major mishap with a tyre and Dave the owner was a huge help in getting the problem sorted. Many thanks for your kindness.
We are not huge caravanners but will definitely be back to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this site.
Give this a try you will not be sorry
Just passing on our thanks for our stay at your farm Easter weekend. What a wonderful set-up you have. From the newly laid out paddock where we stayed, the new toilet block, the hens strutting about, the Alpacas, horse and hedgehogs, the peace and quite, it was true class.
Your Easter bunny decorations, the generosity and thoughtfulness of the Easter eggs and time and effort they you must have spent for the Bank holiday "extras" didn't go unnoticed either. Next time it would be nice to bring our Grandchildren along who would find it all magical. You and your family were so friendly, helpful but unobtrusive.
Thankyou very much.
Stayed two nights in August – phoned and booked at short notice and it was explained that there is no shower block but that mains linked toilets were being installed that day. We liked the look of the site and decided we could manage for a couple of nights so booked.
This proved to be a good decision as the site was perfect for our needs being close to pickering and also very quiet.
The pitches are very large and flat and the owner (Dave) very friendly and welcoming. There is a large dog walking area next to the site and there are free range eggs on sale at a very reasonable price.
The site had only been open 2 weeks when we were there. There is no shower block or wash up area but the two toilets are brand new and the level of facilities are reflected in the price you pay. We paid £24 for the two nights which included £2 for the dog which found to be very reasonable.
This is a very nice small and friendly site which is ideal if you want to have peace and quiet while just being a few minutes drive into pickering (also walkable) where there are numerous shops to pick up your supplies.
We will definitely be using westgate carr again for short breaks and would recommend this site to others.
I have rated facilities 10/10 because you get what you pay for and what is honestly advertised.”
