Welcome To Our Website!

Westgate Carr Farm idylically located in the Vale of Pickering, gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors, is now under new ownership/management.

Having finally completed legal purchase in late December 2012, we have immediately implemented a programme of general improvement & refurbishment which will intensify during the latter half of 2013, subject to the necessary planning consents.

Family owned, our immediate attention is being directed to providing our campsite customers with an improved, more satisfying & rewarding experience; with a strong focus on enhancing the natural habitats, ecosystems & ecology of the wildlife resident around the farm.

During January & February 2013 the facility will be significantly upgraded & improved with the installation of new hook-up units, ring fencing & recycling area. New gates are being fitted to give access to a dedicated dog walk & nature trail along our fields to the boundary with Costa Beck, a fast flowing chalk stream where you may see Trout & Grayling, Herons, Swans, Kingfishers, Wagtails & even the occasional Otter. Bullfinches & Long Tailed Tits are resident in the hedges surrounding the camping field as are Goldfinches, Yellowhammers, Woodpeckers & Owls as well as more commonly seen wild birds such as Chaffinches & Robins etc. Roe Deer are regular visitors to the field adjoining the campsite.

The immediate grounds are scheduled for landscaping, tree planting & the provison of a bird feeding station together with the creation of new paddocks for occasional use by our Alpacas &/or rare breed poultry allowing guests to observe & potentially interact with the animals if desired. The Alpacas are particularly inquisitive, if not wary, of strangers but are highly amusing when relaxed. We could quite literally watch them all day long!

Munchie, a stunning Fell Pony & his best mate come companion, Binky, a minature Shetland Pony have arrived on the farm (October-13) & we plan/hope to offer (or should I say Binky) intends to offer pony rides to young children in 2014

We have also acquired a quintet of Indian Blue Peafowl (2 Peacocks & 3 Peahens) that now freely wander the farm, a site to behold. We are keeping our fingers crossed for fertile eggs & babies in 2014

The newest additions to the farm are settling well! Rosie, the Pygmy goat & her 2 kids (awaiting names!) have already begun to take food from our hands & we are confident will soon be moved out into one of the paddocks abutting the campsite.

Further afield, our 4 Highland Cattle have also just arrived. These stunning docile animals are a sight to behold & appear to be totally at home here on the farm. We are hoping to tame them to enjoy a long term presence on the farm!

We further intend to extend our interest in Rare Breeds with the introduction of a few pigs, sheep together with the possibility of an odd donkey or 2 in the near future.

Beyond that who knows but our desire & passion is to improve & upgrade all aspects of the farm to provide the owners with a desirable country house lifestyle & all campsite visitors with an undeniably rewarding short break or longer holiday in one of the most beautiful areas of the UK countryside. Our intention is for Westgate Carr Farm to be recognised as a top-end campsite where guests can return time after time in confidence of a warm & friendly welcome with unrivalled peace & tranquility.

We look forward to meeting you!
